Drinking Ban

Good morning residents of Hackney Downs & Hackney Central, 

Following recent incidents involving alcohol‑related disorder, Hackney Council has introduced a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). Under this order, you must not carry or consume alcohol from an open container while in designated public areas.

If you are seen with an open can or bottle of alcohol, you may be issued with an Anti‑Social Behaviour Warning. This is not a criminal offence and will not appear on any criminal record. It simply helps us identify whether you have previously been issued a warning.

We appreciate that with summer approaching, many of us enjoy spending time outdoors with friends and having a drink. However, due to recent concerns and in order to protect the safety and wellbeing of the public, these measures have been put in place.
